Strensall sits around 6 miles north of York, roughly a 15 to 20 minute drive from our base, and is best known locally for Strensall Common, a large area of heathland used for military training and protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The village itself falls under City of York Council, the same planning authority covering York and the closer villages we work in.

Strensall has a good mix of village housing and newer family estates, and we see extension projects across both, from straightforward rear kitchen extensions to larger wraparound designs on bigger plots further from the village centre. Every project follows the same Home Extensions process regardless of size: rear, side return, wraparound, single-storey, two-storey and kitchen extensions, all managed by us from foundations to final finish.
Being under City of York Council, standard Permitted Development limits apply: single-storey rear extensions up to 3 metres (semi-detached/terraced) or 4 metres (detached) without planning permission, or up to 6/8 metres under the Larger Home Extension scheme with prior approval. If your property backs onto Strensall Common or any other protected land nearby, it's worth flagging to us early, since proximity to protected sites can occasionally bring additional considerations into a planning application.
We're a family-run team based in York, and we bring the same standard of clear quotes, regular updates and clean, respectful site work to Strensall as we do everywhere else we build. We're fully insured for all domestic work, and our 5-star customer feedback reflects a team that does what it says it will, on time and on budget.
Excellent job from Phil and his team. Both external and internal works finished to an excellent quality. Happy to deal with changes and kept us informed on a day-to-day basis. Definitely recommend.
